Mahbub Ahmed Siddique, FCA, is a senior accounting professional and institutional leader with a track record of governance, standard-setting, and strategic reform. He served as Chief Operating Officer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) for over five years and, before departing, was appointed Adviser to the President. Joining ICAB in 2008 as Deputy Director (Technical), he rose to Senior Deputy Director in 2011 and Director (Technical) in 2013, where he led Quality Assurance, Technical Standards, Training & Research, and International Affairs & Collaboration. From September to November 2020, he also served as Secretary & CEO (In Charge). He was the first program manager for implementing ICAB’s Strategy Reform 2025–2030.

Mr. Siddique has deep expertise in professional governance and the implementation of IFAC’s Statements of Membership Obligations, serving as Member Secretary to key ICAB Council committees, including the Quality Assurance Board, the Technical and Research Committee, and the International Affairs and Collaboration Committee.

His leadership extends regionally and globally. Nominated by ICAB, he was Assistant Executive Secretary of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in 2016 and Executive Secretary in 2017, and has been nominated again for these roles for 2025 and 2026. He has been selected to the IFAC Professional Accountancy Organizations Advisory Development Group (PAOADG) for 2026–2028—the first professional from Bangladesh appointed to this body. He also serves as an ICAB-nominated Director of the SAFA Foundation and as Marketing Director for Chartered Accountants Worldwide.

Before ICAB, Mr. Siddique consulted for the ICAEW on a World Bank–funded twinning project with ICAB and worked in the finance division of AKTEL (now Robi Axiata Ltd.), a leading Bangladeshi telecom operator.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2007 after completing a Master’s in Accounting in 2002. He trained at Hoda Vasi Chowdhury & Co., Chartered Accountants (then an Independent Correspondent Firm to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu), gaining extensive audit and assurance experience across banking, financial institutions, and multinational groups. He became an ACA of ICAB in 2007 and an FCA in 2012. He is also a Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA), UK.

A respected speaker and educator, Mr. Siddique has delivered and participated in numerous trainings, workshops, and conferences on Quality Assurance, IFRS, ISA, and the Code of Ethics, and has taught in the CA programs of ICAB and ICAEW. He has undertaken professional assignments in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, China, and across Europe and South Asia.
